Image stories #1: Mounir Raji

In Image Stories, photographers talk about their work and artistic vision at Fotomuseum Hilversum.

On 28 May 2025, our guest was Mounir Raji.

During this edition of Beeldverhalen, photographer Mounir Raji discussed his series Dreamland - Yallah - Bladi, which was on view at Fotomuseum Hilversum.

The Dutch-Moroccan photographer explores the theme of Bladi, the Moroccan word for “my country.” Where and what is Bladi? Raji grew up spending his summer holidays in Morocco, which felt like a dream to him. While he longed for these idyllic moments, he wondered why his family in Morocco dreamed instead of building a life in the Netherlands.

After the interview, we continued the conversation with all attendees during Hot Tea, Real Talk.

The central question was: “What does home mean to you?” Participants were invited to submit a photo that symbolized this for them.
